There are two species of Lavender grown in the Great Lakes Region

Lavandula Angustifolia (English Lavender)
Lavandula x Intermedia (Lavandins)

L. Angustifolia is ornamental, fruity / floral scent, early blooming with shorter stems and a bit hardier.
L. x Intermedia is used more medicinally, has a camphor scent, later blooming, longer stems, high oil content, less hardy.
